A 26-year-old Malaysian man was sentenced to six weeks in jail on Monday for secretly recording videos of four men in a toilet at Sembcorp Marine’s Tuas Boulevard Yard. The videos were filmed on separate occasions in January 2026. He pleaded guilty to one charge of intentionally recording private acts without consent, with two additional charges taken into consideration.
- 📱 The offender placed his mobile phone with its camera lens pointed into an adjacent toilet cubicle, and was discovered when the victim noticed the phone poking over the cubicle wall.
- 🗑️ After being caught, Jathavaram deleted all four videos from his phone, making it unclear whether the victims’ private parts were actually captured or to what degree their privacy was violated.
- ⚖️ He faced potential punishment of up to two years’ jail, a fine, caning, or any combination of these penalties.
